Geography
PennsylvaniaPennsylvania covers nearly 50,000 square miles. There are 67 counties in the state. The highest point in Pennsylvania is Mt Davis in Somerset County at an elevation of 3,213 feet. The lowest point is the Delaware River. Over 9 million acres of land are considered farmland and over 3.5 million people live in rural areas. The state can be divided into the following eight regions: Lake Erie, Pittsburgh, Laurel Highlands/Southern Alleghany, the Poconos, Philadelphia/Lehigh Valley, Alleghany National Forest, Hershey/Dutch Country, and Valleys of the Susquehanna.

Pennsylvania has a population of 12.2 million people. The population is expected to rise to 12.6 million by the year 2025.

In 2002 the per capita personal income was $31,727.

Real Estate
The state homeownership rate was 73.7% in 2003.

Industry
In 2002, the top occupations in the state were administrative support, professional specialty and executive and managerial occupations. The top industries were retail trade, durable goods, and health services.

The top five employers in Franklin County include the United States Government, Kiddie Industries, Chambersburg Hospital, the Pennsylvania State Government, and Grabau Service Corporation.

Sites/Landmarks
The city of Philadelphia serves as one of the states most visited historical attractions. Pennsylvania's Dutch Country in Lancaster is another popular attraction and Williamsport, Pennsylvania is home to the Little League World Series. The Pocono Mountains are also a popular vacation destination.
